Today, the Starting Point Kids had their yearly Winter Recital where they showed the wonderful things that can happen when talent meets preparation.
The evening started out with a slide presentation of photos from this year's many school outings. Then the Starting Point Kids made their entrance where all the kids danced down the aisles, even the infants. Everyone danced and sang the song "Shout" with all their hearts.
Next, the Starting Point Kids showed us what they do each morning at school by reciting "The Lord's Prayer", the Pledge of Allegiance and Scriptures, and singing the official school song "God Save Our Family".
The Kindergarten and Elementary classes showed their mastery of the Spanish language by singing "Silent Night" in both English and Spanish. We were next treated to a performance of the play "The Meaning of Christmas" to reenact the birth of Jesus Christ and little Miss Jade May told us that the Candy Cane represents the purity and blood of Jesus Christ.
The preschoolers performed a dance called "Chicken Pox for Christmas" and also told everyone the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa with the help of 4th grader Sabrina Hicks.
The evening ended with a wonderful tribute to the late Michael Jackson. The infants and their caregivers danced down the aisle to "ABC" and the Elementary Class performed "The Love You Save" (afro wigs and all). Next the kids did a tap dance number to "Rockin' Robin" and the Kindergartners sang and acted out "You Can't Win" from The Wiz (it was so cute).
Now, you cannot have a Micheal Jackson tribute without dancing to "Beat It", which was performed by Dance Class III. The cutest tribute dance was from daughter/Step-Dad duo Josie Snow and Mr. B.J. who rocked it out to "Billie Jean" and the Starting Point boys showed us their smooth moves by dancing to "Smooth Criminal".
The finale brought on stage all the Starting Point Kids to dance and sing "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" and the kids ended the evening all dancing off stage with their happy parents who could not believe what excellent jobs all the kids did this evening.
This was a wonderful evening of fun that everyone will not soon forgot. Thank you Starting Point for another great recital. What a fun way to end 2009.
